The project started with a competition in 2007. Sustainable principles were used to develop the site. Emphasis on logistics, density, ground balance, water management and landscape.

The basic idea of this project is to provide the possibility of future extension for the sustainable office building and factories. From the view of publicity, the design must have both visual attraction and educational insight. The newly-developed buildings reflect the entreprise philosophy of Yunnan Baiyao as a modern enterprise based on tradition.

This also means that this project is different from traditional factory design. The efficient and flexible design method reserves enough land for future extension.
